Maison Christian Lacroix
"It is with passion and enthusiasm that we answered the call of the House of Marotte to create together this collection of decorative wood panels." Christian Lacroix
We were of course already familiar with the wood species that exist in France: Oak, Ash, Sycamore and Walnut. But we were also quickly seduced by these African woods with mysterious names such as Lati, Koto, Aniegre, and of course, the great exotic classics such as Wenge, Mahogany or Rosewood. Similar to what we do with fabric, we dyed, printed, patched and layered all these wonderful woods to create a joyful, rich and eclectic collection. Sacha Walckhoff - Creative Director of Christian Lacroix
With our origins as a Haute Couture house, we were naturally inspired to print a giant guipure lace on Wenge, carve Walnut with a Cornelia embroidery pattern or cut out Acanthus leaves from precious wood to liven up a large patchwork curtain. Passementerie, a skillful interweaving of silk and gold threads, inspired us to create panels where different woods, sometimes matte, sometimes glossy, intertwine with each other or with sculpted Corian© to create skillful arabesques. The "icons" of the house, such as the "Paseo", the "Cabinet de curiosité" or the “Œillets" have found their rightful place, printed and patinated on colored woods or more simply applied on Walnut or Ash. Lastly, as a nod to the Couturier with whom we started this collection, a very pretty "pixelated" and multicolored marquetry reminiscent of the tiles of the bodegas of his native South as well as a “Calligraphie" design sanded on Oak, like an enigmatic and timeless signature.”
FROM FASHION SHOWS TO LIFESTYLES
